RANCH HOUSE IN ATHERTON

When I first saw this house it was a typical ranch house on a nice big lot with nothing growing in it.  We doubled the size of the house using one of the best architects on the West Coast, Andrew Skurman.  We added two wings to what was a low ceilinged typical ranch.  We expanded the small dining room, and on one side of the house we added a grand blue and white family room.  On the other side we added a gracious master suite to what was three small bedrooms.

One of the most important things that happened was the renovation and planting of the grounds.  When finished, it felt like you were in an opulent English Garden with flowers and greenery for every season, and areas divided off into exterior rooms.  I give the client most of the credit for the gardens.
